Is $20,000 to install 90 linear feet of wire deck railings a fair price?
Project Details
I received two quotes for new deck railings, one for $20,000 for wire railings and another for $17,000 for mesh railings. Both quotes are for approximately 90 linear feet of railings. I find these prices excessive and am looking for ways to reduce the cost without sacrificing durability or aesthetics. I'm considering building it myself using an Amazon aluminum railing system with cable, which I estimate could cost less than $3,000, despite concerns about the durability of aluminum and the complexity of the deck's turns and height (15 feet in the air). I was hoping for a more durable product than wood and don't want to replace railings frequently.
