Is $4,000 to build a 270 sqft concrete slab deck a fair price?
Project Details
I'm planning to build a 9x30 deck in my backyard in Austin, Texas. My existing patio is low, so the deck needs to be installed higher and cannot be attached to the slab. I'm looking for advice on the best material. While concrete is cheap, I'm concerned about it getting hot and cracking. I'm open to a raised deck and prefer an elegant, low-maintenance material like TimberTech. I'm also wondering about pavers (concrete or porcelain) for Austin, Texas, and if weeds will grow under the deck.

The scope of work includes: - Remove all existing grass from the 9x30 area - Cap any sprinkler heads as needed to prepare the work area - Set up the wood form for the new concrete slab - Apply road base throughout the area and run the compactor for proper compaction - Install rebar for reinforcement - Pour 4 inches of concrete throughout the 9x30 section - Install brake joints and apply a broom finish for a rough, non-slip texture
