I was looking for a company to do a reskin on my deck, wanting composite decking and vinyl railings. I received this quote from a big company, and I'm very shocked by the total of $29,702 after discounts. I believe the materials alone could be found for roughly $5k, so I'm unsure where the remaining $25k is coming from, especially since this isn't building from scratch, just replacing the decking and railings. I definitely told them no. I have another quote lined up from a local contractor. Both companies that have measured have confirmed that the substructure and 'bones' of the deck look great and were built to last, so I wouldn't expect any additional work needed. It just seemed a bit excessive in my eyes.
