Is $3,235 to replace the coil in the air handler a fair price?
Project Details
I moved into my house 4 years ago, and the AC worked fine that summer. The following summer, I had no cold air, and a company just added Freon without offering other solutions. The summer after that, I had no cold air again, indicating a leak. A different company added about a pound of Freon and leak seal, which worked for two summers. Now, I have no cold air again. A technician found oil in the coil in the air handler, indicating a leak. The units are just over 10 years old and out of warranty. This system is for central air only; heating does not run off it. I'm trying to decide which option would be better in the long run.
