Is $750 to replace the thermostat board a fair price?

Project Details

I replaced my A/C unit for a brand new one earlier in May. I use Nest thermostats and the tech said they did not like working with them. Everything went well except the fan function does not work at all. The tech said that was due to me using the Nest and that it wasn't compatible (mind you I have had the nest on my old unit and it worked fine). I had already paid for the job so I did not argue more. Now that it is colder I tried using the heater and it did not turn on. A tech from the same company came and said the thermostat board needs to be replaced "eventually". He resetted the unit and it worked fine. So now he's saying I can pay $750 to get the board replaced or $125 for the visit and reset of the unit. I'm asking all of this because I do not trust this company anymore. And the only reason I called them back is because I thought this would be under their guarantee since the unit was just installed and it is brand new. Am I at wrong here?

Replace a board and run new thermostat wire for HVAC system

This quote was for the replacement of a board and the installation of a new thermostat wire for an HVAC system. The previous technician from a large company charged $2,000 for this work. The technician made several errors during the installation: - Failed to properly enable the low-speed fan for heat, leading to a temporary jump of white to green wires for high-speed fan operation. - The temporary jump had to be removed seasonally for AC operation. - Did not read the board's instructions, which specified jumping gas 1 and gas 3 for low-speed fan on heat. - Ran a new thermostat wire but did not connect the C wire, instead relying on thermostat batteries.
