Is $3,000 to replace the blower motor in a Carrier Infinity system a fair price?

Project Details

My Carrier FE4ANF005000AAAA Infinity system with a heat pump and all-electric furnace is about 17 years old. We had been getting sporadic blower motor fault messages (Fault 41) that we could fix with a breaker reset, but the motor finally went out. I am looking for a cheaper stop-gap solution until I can afford a new system, as I hope to save money to put towards a new system instead of spending $3K on a 17-year-old system. I am also trying to determine if a replacement ECM motor needs programming for my Carrier system.
