Is $550 to clean AC coils a fair price?
Project Details
I'm questioning if it's worth paying $550 to clean my AC coils, which appear to have hard water, some freon residue, and possibly mold. I'm wondering if I can clean it myself. My main concern is the gunk at the bottom of the unit, specifically a green part, and if it could harm the coils or build up. My freon was a bit low, but they filled it up, and I'm glad I didn't proceed with the coil cleaning. The technicians also mentioned my air ducts were installed poorly with many 90-degree angles and choking areas, suggesting a $6,000 replacement. However, I don't think I would notice the improved airflow, and the current system works fine.
