Is $50,000 to install custom cabinetry for a kitchen, mudroom, and laundry room a fair price?

I have messy teenagers and we spend the vast majority of our time in the kitchen, so I need something durable that is easy to maintain. I am strictly avoiding MDF and particle board in favor of plywood boxes and solid wood fronts because I am concerned about peeling. I previously had a bad experience with a highly-regarded custom brand where the paint failed and I had to fight for a resolution, so I am apprehensive about paying a premium only to have another battle. I am looking for European-style cabinets and am exploring RTA options because the custom quotes in my area are very high, and I feel like contractors price things higher just because of my zip code.
