Is $3,600 to replace front entry door with mahogany speakeasy slab door a fair price?
Project Details
I moved into my Houston, TX home over 3 years ago, and since then, during heavy rainstorms, rain literally seeps through the panels and knots of my knotty Alder wood front door. This happens at least twice a year, and I have to use towels to prevent my wood floor from warping. The front door now has two panels that are loose and warped. I'm concerned that 3+ years of water penetration could have caused wood rot. I'm seeking guidance on whether I should replace it with a wood or fiberglass door, as two door stores have advised against fiberglass, suggesting a wood door instead. They also didn't ask me questions about my minimal overhang. The rain water seeps through the knots and v-grooves of the door, but the threshold/sill and weatherstripping seem fine. I'm unsure about the ceiling flashing.
