Is $800 to drywall patch for a 2ft x 10ft area a fair price?

Project Details

I live in a humid area and was wondering what’s the best drywall material to use for tropical hot places. I am a beginner attempting a 2ft x 10ft patch for the first time because I want to avoid paying a contractor. The area has no support beams to screw the drywall into.
