Is $1,200 to replace garage door opener rod, standard spring, and mounting a fair price?
Project Details
My current garage door opener setup is 30 years old and outdated, and the technician said they no longer carry parts for it. I had an old rod with an internal spring, and the spring broke, leaving both pulley cables extremely loose. The technician didn't carry parts to repair the internal spring. I still feel like $1200 is high, even though it's a full replacement, and I'll get more quotes. I don't want to touch garage door springs myself, especially after a coworker got his forearm ripped open doing it improperly, so this is one DIY project I wouldn't attempt.
