Is $3,800 to tear out existing grass and replace with new sod (1100 sq ft) a fair price?
Project Details
I am a new homeowner and unsure if these quotes are reasonable. I've priced sod at about $1100 for 1100 sq ft and am wondering if the additional cost for labor is worth it, or if I could do this myself. I'm also considering low-maintenance options like rocks or mulch due to frequent droughts in Northern CA, which caused my front and back lawns to die. Weeds have taken over, making the yard patchy. My wife and I plan to move in the next couple of months, so we are undertaking various home improvement projects, including fixing sprinkler heads and the timer system. I'm new to a lot of this and learning as I go. I'm looking for advice on how to remove existing patchy grass and insights on replacing it with rocks, including weed prevention methods like mats or covers.
