Is $10,000 to install a bath and tub surround a fair price?
Project Details
I bought my starter home in 2019, and it was in very poor condition, requiring extensive repairs due to water damage and terrible DIY work. We've already spent $30,000 on repairs, including redoing stairs and basement flooring, which took a year due to severe wall damage. My husband lost his job, and I've taken on most of the renovations myself despite being disabled by chronic illness, leading to us living in half-finished rooms for six years. I desperately want to move as I hate my city due to severe homelessness, drug addiction, and violent crime, which has depressed housing prices. I'm terrified we can't afford to move to a nicer area, especially since our house is dated (nicotine-colored shell sink and wood paneling) and I fear it won't sell well compared to fully remodeled homes. I'm currently overwhelmed and stressed, having recently had a conflict with neighbors over their dogs, which has made me sick and afraid to return home, though I must for a flooring install next week. I'm meeting with my broker and agent to prepare for selling and hope to get direction on what renovations are most impactful for buyers.
