Is $28,000 to install helical piers and stabilize foundation a fair price?
Project Details
I'm seeking education and reassurance about a foundation settling issue at my home. I received a $28,000 quote for foundation stabilization, which I cannot afford right now. I'm concerned about how serious the settling is, if it worsens quickly, and if there are more cost-effective or temporary solutions. My house is old and has a dip in the floor towards the middle, which my husband is currently working on by adding a beam, digging holes, filling them with concrete, and installing jacks in the crawlspace to slowly raise the floor. We don't have a basement, only a crawlspace. There are some foundation cracks, but they don't seem large, and no visible drywall cracks except in the bathroom, which I believe is related to the sagging floor. The house was renovated before we bought it, so interior cracks might have been hidden. I'm hoping to understand the situation better and make a plan without going broke. The area is completely dry, and it has been dry for a long while.
