Is $750 to fix a hole in the ceiling over the stairs a fair price?

I accidentally stepped through a small 1ft by 1ft spot in the attic while checking my AC, which I subsequently fixed myself. The hole is in a difficult location, directly over the stairs and about 15 feet up, making it hard to reach safely without a proper ladder. The living room ceiling, where the hole is, is about 20 feet high. I've lived in the house for about 5 years and only recently noticed other previously painted spots on the ceiling after the contractor mentioned color matching.
