Is $1,800 to install a new 1.5 hp variable motor pool pump a fair price?

I bought the house a few years ago, it was built in 2007. My pool pump stopped working within the last couple weeks, and I think it was working after my pool guy's team replaced the filter cartridge. I don't remember these wires being broken and assume they are the issue. I work in construction and the suggested price for a new pump seems high to me, so I'm questioning if a new pump would fix the problem and if the price is crazy.
