Is $36,000 to install a 6.8 kW solar system a fair price?

I am just starting to collect quotes for solar installation on my 2500 sqft new construction home. The rear roof is southern facing with no nearby trees or shade. I have net metering with my utility, so I shouldn't need any batteries. My current electricity rate is $0.12/kwh. I'm concerned that the estimated price of $5.3 per watt seems very high compared to what I've been reading, and I'm questioning if it's worth my time to gather more quotes if this is typical.
