I have a home in SW Florida and I'm considering solar to reduce reliance on the grid. I'm trying to determine if it makes financial sense, especially when compared to investing the same amount of money. I estimate the solar system would pay for itself in 6-7 years, but I'm concerned that investing the money might yield double the returns based on historical averages. I'm trying to understand if solar is ever financially viable.
