Is $23,822 to install a solar photovoltaic system with 12 kWh battery storage a fair price?
Project Details
My electricity bill is around €250 a month. There's an incentive in Spain where I can get refunded 60% of the pre-tax cost (€12,993) spread over 3 years, bringing my out-of-pocket cost to about €11k. This means I'll recoup the cost in approximately 44 months or 3.5 years. I prefer the Deye AI-W5.1-B stackable battery system because I can add more later. My electricity rate is variable, with peak, off-peak, and super off-peak periods, and I already program high-consumption appliances to run during the lowest cost periods via home assistant, so we are already very efficient in consumption. We have 5 split air conditioning units and might need another one, as we are in the south of Spain where it gets very hot. My main concern is whether we will still be living in this house in 3 years, as our family is growing and we might need to move soon. I specifically requested a Deye inverter because it can run fully off-grid and has a dedicated Load port that acts like an ATS, ensuring loads connected to it always have power.
