Is $9,000 to remove and replace rusty Vikofan post bases and caps with Simpson hardware a fair price?

Project Details

I have an ongoing battle with the seller of the Vikofan hardware on Amazon because the post bases and caps on my 900 sq ft deck rusted in no time. I will have to remove and replace all of them. The seller initially fought it but then agreed to pay for the repairs after I sent them the estimate. They recently changed their listing to show testing for corrosion and admit they had a problem. I bought another set of post bases through someone else, and they were also bad quality. The company is based in HK and uses shell companies to avoid lawsuits. I am considering a class action lawsuit if they don't respond, as this is a safety issue, especially for an elevated deck. I tried these because I was looking to save money on hardware for a very large elevated deck/walkway project in Mexico and was willing to try them on my personal house. At the time of order, there were no red flags or bad reviews. The rusting was due to bad quality galvanizing, not lumber interaction, as a bracket left outside without wood contact also rusted.

Replace cedar deck boards with composite and address structural issues

This quote involves the comprehensive replacement of existing cedar deck boards with composite material for a deck approximately 1,000 sq ft in size. The project also includes addressing a significant structural issue concerning a missing beam at the transition point where the deck steps down to a second level. Two distinct approaches were proposed for this structural repair: - Solution 1: Install a new beam along with a row of concrete footings and supporting posts. - Solution 2: Eliminate the stepdown/multi-level design by raising and extending the existing joists, and installing taller posts at the end of the deck.
