Is $10,500 to install aluminum fascia mounted posts with glass railings a fair price?

I am questioning if extra blocking with tension ties is needed behind the fascia of my deck for aluminum railing installation, as suppliers suggest a 3" penetration is adequate, but I'm hesitant. No one who has quoted me thinks blocking/ties are needed. I live in a rain forest, and I'm using Duradek, which I believe is the best option to prevent my deck structure from rotting, short of composite deck boards and an under-deck water bladder system. I've also found that I can save $3,500 by purchasing materials from Home Depot or Muzata and doing the installation myself over a long weekend, compared to the professional quotes I've received.
