Is $500 to change out an electrical disconnect a fair price?
Project Details
My communicating condenser fan motor quit working. Its replacement got awful expensive because of the requirement of a new fan blade as well. The electrical disconnect on the wall, while functional, shows partial arcing erosion/melted copper blades. I have chosen to do this myself prior to a second contractor’s replacement of the ECM motor and fan. I am also asking if I should replace the original Western U065p model disconnect with something better, and if a quick blow fusible system would protect the electronics of the condenser from power surges that knocked the motor out.
