Is $10,000 to install 650 feet of 7-8ft deer fence with 1-2 strands a fair price?
Project Details
I've recently been getting quoted for deer fencing. I have about 650 feet and the primary purpose for the fencing will be to keep deer and rabbits out. I live on a slope, so I have been told that it needs to be 7-8 feet to actually keep the deer out. The difference I see between the two bids is that they indicate they were use "3 strands" instead of the 2 or 1 on the other quotes I've gotten. This seems to be a cost saving measure as the wire fencing especially above 6ft is costly. I'm not too concerned about rabbits as most of my property is orchard and we don't seem to have a lot of rabbits. The fencing with the wire fence rolls and the strands would be 8', so I'm guessing that will be enough even if they're jumping downhill. I had other bid the wooden round posts with H braces on the corners, but I don't see the advantage.
