Is $5,000 to install a galaxy epoxy floor in a 485 sqft basement a fair price?
Project Details
My husband and I are planning on putting epoxy floors in our basement. We're exploring our options and I'm leaning towards having it done professionally, he's leaning towards doing it ourselves. I'd like to achieve a galaxy appearance, which is the biggest reason I want it done professionally. It's not like a small art project, it's going to be a permanent fixture in our home, and personally I'd rather have the expertise behind it of paying someone. My biggest sticking point, besides the quality, is actually the safety. My understanding is that epoxy/resin is not safe for casual use, and I would rather pay someone who knows the risks and has the experience rather than risk harm to ourselves or family or pets. I have had a hell of a time finding any examples of galaxy floors like I'm envisioning, and I didn't like the one I did find. Maybe I have a fundamental misunderstanding of either the materials involved or the level of risk?
