Is $6,800 to demolish tile, lay LVP flooring, and install new baseboards a fair price?

Project Details

I hired a contractor to do my flooring and I'm not super happy with the customer service. I honestly expected to be tailored to a bit more for the price. I had to ask him to pick up the flooring from the store as he expected me to do so, and I had to move all my own furniture. I hired him because he mentioned he would do all the work himself and wouldn't subcontract, but he ended up hiring someone for tile glue removal and another person to lay all the flooring after he hurt his back. This annoys me because I would rather have paid those people directly. He only ended up doing the baseboards, which he told us he would not be painting. He also kept saying he would fix things, but then up-charged for all of those things on the final bill. He chipped paint in one area and has failed to say anything, and he also accidentally got water all over the floor, resulting in one of the baseboards being water stained, which looks terrible, and he is still refusing to paint it. I just expected him to go a bit more above and beyond.

Quote Details

The quote covered the demolition of existing tile, installation of LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring, and installation of new baseboards. The homeowner was expected to pick up the flooring from the store and move all furniture. The contractor initially stated he would perform all work himself but subcontracted the tile glue removal and LVP flooring installation due to personal injury. The baseboards were installed but not painted, requiring the homeowner to paint them or hire another person. Additional issues included chipped paint in one area, a water-stained baseboard due to an accidental spill, and upcharges for promised "fixes". - Tile demolition - LVP flooring installation - New baseboard installation (unpainted) - Area: 700 square feet - Homeowner responsibilities: Pick up flooring, move furniture - Subcontracted work: Tile glue removal, LVP flooring installation - Issues: Chipped paint, water-stained baseboard, unpainted baseboards, upcharges for fixes
