Is $22,978 to replace 1400 sq ft of carpet with LVP flooring and stairs a fair price?
Project Details
I just bought my first home, a two-storey wood frame house from the mid-70s, and it needs about 1300 sq ft of old 80s carpet replaced with a hard floor. I have a large dog prone to 'zoomies' and who is messy with water, plus winters here are wet, so I'm leaning towards vinyl for durability. I'm getting quotes and am unsure if the numbers are reasonable, especially the subfloor leveling prep, which I feel might be overblown. I can remove the existing carpet myself, but it doesn't significantly reduce the price. Baseboards will be handled by painters separately. I'm also looking for suggestions on water and scratch-resistant laminate brands, and wondering about the extensive prep work required for LVP and what's wrong with SPC, given my concerns about dog scratches and wet feet in the kitchen/front hall. I'm seeking recommendations for flooring brands and contractors in the Metro Vancouver area.
