Is $6,500 to install 400 sqft of tile in basement and clean 200 sqft of existing tile a fair price?

I need some advice regarding a tile installation project. The adjacent room, which was part of the quote, was quite messy with mortar in the grout lines and on the face of the tiles. The job was initially quoted for 1 week but has taken 2 weeks so far, with two guys working most days from 8:30-9 AM to 3-3:30 PM. The tile guy mentioned that the job took longer than expected and that I need to work with him on the price. I am willing to adjust the price as the tiles look good, but I'm concerned he might want double the agreed-upon price. I'm looking for suggestions on what a fair amount would be.
