Is $6,500 to install tile flooring in basement a fair price?
Project Details
I received a quote to tile my basement. The project involves installing 400 sqft of new tiles and cleaning/grouting an existing 200 sqft room that I had started. The existing room was quite messy, with mortar in the grout lines and on the tile faces, and the floor needed some leveling. The contractor assessed the job twice before agreeing on the price. The job has taken twice as long as initially quoted (2 weeks), and the contractor is now asking for more money due to the extended timeline. I am willing to pay a fair amount as the tiles look good, but I am concerned he wants to double the agreed-upon price and am seeking advice on a fair adjustment.
