Is $10,500 to install engineered hardwood over existing hardwood a fair price?

Project Details

My wife and I are looking at replacing some flooring. We currently have LVP over builder-grade 3/4" hardwood, with a section that was built up with plywood where carpet used to be. The cheap LVP is falling apart, and we want to replace it with engineered hardwood. I'm trying to decide if the extra $5,000 to remove the old hardwood is worth it, considering it only saves 3/8" of head space, unless there are other risks involved.

Quote Details

This option includes: - Remove existing LVP flooring. - Install engineered hardwood over the existing 15-year-old builder-grade 3/4" hardwood. - Installation Method: Staples and glue assist. - Floor Height: The new floor will be approximately 3/8" higher than the current level with the existing LVP.
