Is $4,100 to install engineered hardwood flooring a fair price?
Project Details
I own a 2 bedroom condo and am ripping out 870 square feet of wood/tile to replace it with engineered hardwood. I chose Somerset Classic Character Solid Plus Engineered hardwood in Natural White Oak because I prefer hardwood over LVP and it has a thick wear layer for future refinishing. I decided to purchase the flooring myself and then find an installer. I had a rough time finding an installer, with one giving a very high quote and others not responding. I need everything demoed, a section of subfloor replaced, and the new wood installed with a new vapor barrier. I am responsible for moving all furniture and personal items, which I will do by moving everything to one room and sealing it off with plastic during installation, then moving it back for the final room. Demo starts next week, and the wood will be delivered shortly after. I'm excited but nervous for the process and am planning on giving the wood time to acclimate before installation in Chicago.
