Is $25,000 to install a French drain and weep holes along the perimeter of my basement a fair price?
Project Details
I bought this as my first home last year and don’t want to have cumulative water damage end up costing me even more. There are signs of water built up behind the walls in my unfinished basement; one wall seeps water during storms and there is discoloration on others. The walls were treated with waterproofing paint right before I moved in. I have already extended and rerouted the downspouts and tidied up the gutters. My dehumidifier is working fairly well but can’t prevent the puddles that form during rain, and I’m concerned with the pressure against the walls for long-term consequences. The wall that weeps is on the side of the house sitting at the top of a small hill, while the backyard is nearly flat.
