Is $9,488 to replace a 5-ton Bryant Legacy AC system a fair price?

My current AC unit's compressor stopped working and is on its last legs, running "rough." It's a 21-year-old Goodman unit, though the compressor was replaced once before. I trust the technician who provided this quote. I'm wondering if the quoted price is good for the Detroit area and what others think about Bryant AC units. I'm also concerned about whether I should replace my aging furnace at the same time, and if a 5-ton AC unit is too large for my 3300 sq ft, two-story colonial home. We are also getting a new roof with new decking, fascia boards, and gutters, which I hope will improve the house's insulation. I'm trying to keep the AC from constantly running and am curious about the price difference for 4-ton or two-stage units.
