Is $3,600 to replace outdoor unit control board and defrost sensor in older Infinity heat pump a fair price?
Project Details
My technician initially estimated $1500 and suggested replacing the entire 14-year-old system, but I'd prefer to replace the part and keep the existing unit, which has worked great. I'm shocked by this $3600 quote, as I've seen control boards estimated closer to $1000. The technician didn't mention the defrost sensor, so I'm unsure if it's common to replace both. I'm looking for advice on whether this quote is reasonable, if I should get a second quote, and the approximate cost of a new 2.5T Infinity Heat Pump. This is beyond my DIY skill level. I am a retired homeowner.
