Is $6,400 to replace an AC condenser in a 5 ton unit a fair price?

Project Details

My AC unit is out, and the 100-degree summer weather in San Antonio is brutal. I'm struggling to get other companies out for quotes quickly due to high demand. I'm a first-time homeowner with zero HVAC knowledge and am wondering if the $6,400 price is good, as online sources suggest a range of $2,900-$5,000. I didn't get the name of the equipment they would replace it with but plan to call them to find out.

Quote Details

This quote is for the replacement of an AC condenser in a 5-ton unit. The replacement condenser will be a 410A type. The quoted price includes both the cost of parts and labor.
