Is $9,890 to replace 2 ton AC unit a fair price?

I live in a 925 sqft condo on the 3rd floor in Southern California, about 3 miles from the ocean. The weather is good except for 3-4 weeks a year in late summer when it hits the 90s, and I need a little heat in the winter. My old HVAC unit is a heat pump about 20 years old, and the air handler is original, roughly 35 years old, a First Co in-ceiling unit. The pan leaks and causes water damage when the AC runs. The only way to replace the pan is to take the entire air handler out, which isn't cost-effective compared to replacing it. First Co doesn't really make replacement parts for it. I was thinking about getting a mini-split, but this price for a condenser and air handler replacement doesn't seem bad. I'm questioning if 2 ton is necessary or if 1.5 ton is better for the size of my unit. I was also considering a mini-split option, but the longevity might not be worth it. The humidity is usually hovering around 40%-60%, but it's dry in the winter. These air handlers seem popular given the limited space in condos, but I've read they can be a pain.
