Is $1,300 to replace gas valve in furnace a fair price?
Project Details
I ran 18/3 wire to a Nest thermostat, and it worked fine for a week. Now, the furnace will not turn on, and I'm told the Nest sometimes turns red or says delayed. An HVAC company came out and diagnosed a faulty gas valve. I think the quoted price of $1300 for replacing the gas valve seems high, especially since they mentioned they'd be in and out in less than an hour. I'm also concerned about ensuring there are no gas leaks after the replacement. The furnace is about 12-15 years old.
