Is $2,500 to replace a cracked heat exchanger a fair price?
Project Details
A technician informed me today that my heat exchanger is cracked and showed me a picture. He said the CO2 readings in my house were 0. I'm concerned about the severity of the crack and if it needs immediate replacement. I'm also questioning if $2500 for labor is a fair price, especially since I live in the Midwest. The furnace is a Carrier and is 12.5 years old. The technician pointed out what looked like dirt in a bottom hole as the crack. He was at my home for routine maintenance. I'm seeking other opinions and would like to understand what a combustion analysis would entail.
