Is $900 to replace furnace circuit board a fair price?
Project Details
I want to confirm if the technician's diagnosis is correct or if I need a second opinion or a full furnace replacement. I'm skeptical because the technician pushed for a full furnace replacement, stating the circuit board would cost $900. My furnace is about 20 years old. It stopped working, showing a 'pressure switch cycle lockout' error. I tried resetting breakers and cleaning the pressure switch tube without success. When turned on, the motor runs for a minute, the ignitor glows, then the furnace turns off. The technician diagnosed that the circuit board isn't sending power to the gas valve. I have already paid a $99 diagnostic fee. I live in Ontario, Canada.
