Is $1,800 to recharge a multi-split air conditioner with R410A a fair price?
Project Details
I have a reverse cycle multi-split air conditioner with 4 indoor units, installed in 2014, which uses R410A refrigerant (3.30kg). A recent inspection revealed a refrigerant shortage, likely due to a small leak, and some ice buildup on the outdoor condenser coil. Although the system still seems to be heating and cooling well, I've been advised it needs recharging for better efficiency. The system was tested in winter when the outdoor temperature was around 13 Celsius. I'm in NSW, Australia. I can't afford a new air conditioner right now and am considering leaving the current unit for the summer while saving for a new one. I haven't gotten a second opinion yet but plan to.
