Is $1,500 to replace the inducer motor on a Carrier gas furnace a fair price?
Project Details
My Carrier gas furnace has bearings going bad in the inducer motor. It was installed in 2006 and is nearing the end of its expected lifespan. I've lived in the house for about 4.5 years and replaced the blower motor 1.5 years ago. I have no plans to move anytime soon. A technician said the exchanger looks fine and didn't recommend replacing the furnace, so I'm hoping to get a few more years out of it. I ended up getting a second quote that was almost half the price of the original.
