Is $1,400 to fix a bad blower motor in a furnace a fair price?
Project Details
I have had no AC for about a month, which was manageable until a recent heat wave. I'm in northern Indiana, near Kokomo. An HVAC tech diagnosed a bad blower motor in my furnace. He replaced the starter capacitor, but the motor still wouldn't consistently run. I was quoted $1,400 to fix it, but I don't have that money and am not eligible for financing. I'm looking for advice on whether this is a DIY fix or if family handymen could do it, as I'm not sure if it has to be a professional job. I'm also having trouble finding the correct part online using the model number from the furnace sticker. The tech mentioned Lennox parts, and I'm wondering if Lennox owns Ducane.
