Is $1,250 to replace the furnace control board a fair price?
Project Details
I bought my house 2 years ago, and the furnace was installed in late 2021/2022. It's a Rheem Prestige gas unit with central AC. I experience an issue each time I switch between heat and AC, or vice versa. When the unit hasn't been used for days to weeks, and I switch modes, it displays a code 61. The fan spins smoothly with no obstructions. Usually, after a week of cycling the switch or breaker, I can get it to start working, and then it runs without issue for the season. I vacuum out the unit and change the filter every 3-4 weeks. I called Rheem about a warranty in 2023, but they said there was no warranty without a receipt or paperwork from the installing company.

The issue was attributed to condensation dripping down, potentially frying the control board.
