Is $2,000 to clean heat pump system, replace filter dryer, and recharge a fair price?
Project Details
I have a 5-year-old Bryant 3-ton heat pump in a house I bought in October '24 in western Carolina. I believe I'm just past the warranty and I'm not a fan of Bryant systems. I had it serviced because it was running a lot. The technician added about 1 lb of Freon, but then removed some due to a high-side pressure spike, ultimately adding 1 lb. It's working fine now, but they said this is related to Freon contamination. I plan to find the installer for more details and get other opinions. I'm wondering how long the system will work as is and what the best path forward is, as I plan to stay here for at least 10 years. I don't mind spending the money if it's reasonable, but I don't want to keep pouring money into it, especially with R-410A getting pricier.

This quote is to address a diagnosis of Freon contamination in a 5-year-old Bryant 3-ton heat pump. The work includes: - Clean the entire heat pump system - Replace the filter dryer - Recharge the system with R-410A - Further investigation for leaks will be conducted if the homeowner proceeds with this service, as no obvious signs of leakage were found during the initial service.
