Is $2,138 to replace furnace/air handler fan components a fair price?
Project Details
I recently bought my condo and am new to dealing with HVAC. I scheduled a regular maintenance service for my furnace and heat pump. The technician indicated that the amp reading on the furnace motor is too high, suggesting it's old and nearing failure. They also noted the motor was leaking oil. I'm also experiencing an issue where my Nest thermostat gives a "no power to Rh wire" error after running the heat or AC, which is temporarily resolved by cycling the power. The technician mentioned that the Nest might have been improperly wired. The company stated they would need two trips for the job, as my current motor is old and they need to identify the correct model for replacement. I'm trying to determine if this price is fair, especially since other companies charge $200-$300 for a diagnostic visit. I'm also considering checking the wet switch and potentially replacing the Nest thermostat.
