Is $1,100 to replace a warranty blower motor a fair price?
Project Details
I moved into my house a year ago, and the AC unit was 3 years old at that time. I live in Florida and purchased a maintenance plan with the company that installed the unit. My AC motor stopped working when I was out of town this weekend. My wife was home and needed AC, so I approved the work without much thought. After returning, I questioned the high cost, especially with my maintenance contract discount. I was shocked that 1 hour of labor for a warranty part, even with a 15% maintenance plan discount, would cost so much. I'm upset I didn't shop around. The company told me there was no charge for the service call or diagnostics due to my maintenance contract. They came to assess it on Tuesday and performed the work on Wednesday, after I called them on Sunday.
