Is $1,476 to diagnose and repair an AC leak a fair price?

Project Details

I had an HVAC technician diagnose my AC unit, who indicated a leak due to low pressure. I paid a flat rate of $1476.09 for a service that included leak detection, repair, and recharge. When the technicians arrived, the electronic sniffer was not properly charged, causing a 3-hour delay while they attempted to find the leak using soap and bubbles. Once the sniffer was charged, the leak was found in the A-coil within an hour, but the technicians stated it could not be repaired and required a new A-coil. I asked for a refund since the repair portion of the job was not completed. The manager offered a $300 refund, stating the time spent (5 hours) was calculated into the rate. I believe I should be credited for the uncompleted work and unused materials, and I am frustrated that the company will not provide a breakdown of their flat-rate pricing, claiming it's proprietary.
