Is $600 to correct a gas fireplace vent installation a fair price?
Project Details
I am looking for information on what recourse I have. A company working next to my home severely damaged the wall-mounted vent on my direct vent gas fireplace. They sent an uncertified person to replace it, who installed it incorrectly, causing my fireplace to stop working. I paid $600 to have the vent fixed by the company who did the original install. The company that caused the damage is now refusing to reimburse me the $600, demanding $350 back for the damaged vent they installed. I am tired of dealing with this and was unable to use the fireplace for most of the winter. I am seeking advice on how to get my $600 back and if the TSSA in Ontario can provide leverage due to the uncertified installation.
