Is $7,500 to install an American Standard (Trane) 5 ton 15.2 SEER AC unit a fair price?

I am asking if the American Standard (Trane) 5 ton 15.2 SEER unit with a variable speed motor is good for my 2400 sq ft home in South Florida. I am also considering upgrading to a 16 SEER or 17 SEER unit, as 17 SEER is the minimum to qualify for a tax rebate. After getting a quote for the 17 SEER2 option, it seems better to stick with the 15 SEER unit due to cost. The unit is now installed, and I am trying to figure out what filter to use, specifically a MERV 11, because I have 5 cats, but I'm concerned it might be too restrictive.
