I am shopping for a new A/C unit and trying to understand the terminology. I was hoping to purchase a "variable speed ECM" unit, but the companies are quoting "multispeed with variable airflow" units, which I've realized are not true variable speed ECM. I'm trying to confirm my understanding of the terminology and determine if these are good prices if I decide to forgo a variable speed ECM unit due to cost. I will provide model numbers once I have them.
