Is $2,800 to install a new 4-ton AC system (homeowner's portion) a fair price?

Project Details

My AC went out. I have both indoor attic and outdoor units. The home warranty company sent someone out who diagnosed a leak in the coil and recommended a new AC system. The home warranty approved the replacement, but I have to pay the contractor company $2800 for fees not covered. This was not what I wanted, and I'm assuming a new indoor/outdoor unit is way more than the fees I'll have to pay. I currently have a 4-ton unit. I'm considering getting a second opinion. I also have HVAC insurance through my electric provider. I'm wondering if this $2800 fee seems accurate and what the typical cost of a new unit is.
